From Joy…

My passion for working in Early Childhood began at a very young age. I am from a large family – one of nine siblings – I naturally gravitated toward nurturing and supporting younger children. I’ve always loved the idea of being able to help shape and guide young minds. Over the past 19 years in the early childhood sector, my passion has only grown stronger. I find deep fulfilment in knowing that I’m contributing to one of the most important stages in a child’s development—the first five years, which lay the foundation for their future learning, wellbeing, and growth.

  • I pride myself on strong partnerships with children, families and the community. I value connection and trust, and I take time to really know each child and their background. This helps me create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • I believe that helping children identify and express their emotions, build resilience, and learn empathy is extremely important, I am passionate about play based learning and setting up environments where children can explore and use their imagination.
  • I am passionate about building strong and supportive teams. I like to create a positive culture where staff feel valued, motivated and empowered to deliver high quality learning experiences.

Some phrases from our centre philosophy that really resonate with me include:
“Build trust” and “positive relationships with families, children and the wider community” deeply resonate with my own teaching and leadership philosophy. I believe that meaningful, authentic relationships are at the heart of quality early childhood education. When trust is established, children feel secure, families feel heard, and educators can work collaboratively to support each child’s development.

As a Centre Director, I prioritise open communication, respect for diverse family values, and a warm, inclusive environment that reflects the needs and strengths of the community we serve.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my fiancé and our two beautiful girls. We love taking small family trips away and exploring new places together. I also enjoy baking, who doesn’t love freshly cooked treats with a nice coffee shared with family and friends.
