Staff Profiles

Vicky Toko, Centre Director

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Children’s Services
  • First Aid and Child protection

Vicky started in early childhood and education in 2019.

From Vicky…

I began my journey as a room assistant and through the years have had the role of room leader in various age groups and then moved onto being educational leader and centre director since 2022.

I was inspired to become an educator because I found a had a passion for helping young children learn and reach their full potential. Seeing the curiosity that children bring to learning motivated me to create environments where they feel safe, supported and also inspired and motivated to making these environments as interesting and inviting for them as possible. Over time that passion evolved into a desire to lead and mentor other educators to ensure that all children under my care receive the best care and education.

As an educator, I have several strengths and areas of passion that I bring to my role:

  • Every decision I make is guided by what is best for the children. My priority is creating a nurturing developmentally appropriate environment where every child feels seen and supported.
  • I am passionate about building strong and motivated teams who foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture where educators feel valued and supported.
  • I recognise the importance of relationships in the early years and work to foster a warm and inclusive atmosphere that supports children’s emotional well-being and sense of belonging and really treasure the relationships I form with children.
  • I welcome and encourage open, respectful communication with families and educators to ensure trust and consistency in the care we provide.

Some phrases from our centre philosophy that really resonate with me include:

  • “Every child is a capable, curious, and confident learner"
  • “Families are our most important partners."

This resonates with me as I believe that all children have an ability to learn and grow when given the right support and encouragement.

I value partnerships with families as they play a big part in understanding each child’s individual needs and goals which ensures consistency and holistic support for their development.

Outside of the centre environment, I enjoy plane watching. There’s something fascinating about seeing planes soar through the sky and thinking about the journey each person on there is embarking on. It’s a relaxing way to unwind and take in the world from a different perspective. I also absolutely love to get creative with my daughter with arts and crafts projects that allow us to explore our imaginations together. It’s always a fun way for us to bond.

My inspiration to become an educator comes from my deep belief in the power of education to shape young minds and build confident, kind, and curious lifelong learners. – I value meaningful relationships with families as they are essential partners in fostering each child’s development and success.

During my downtime, I enjoy staying active and spending time with people who make me happy. I love playing volleyball, doing karaoke with family and friends, and recording music covers for fun. I also enjoy going for runs using Strava and discovering new local coffee shops along the way. Whenever I can, I love watching concerts and taking holidays to explore new places and experiences. These activities help me recharge, stay inspired, and bring positive energy to my work every day.
